RESINS 101
$25
This class is a practical guide to choosing the right material for the project in front of you. We’ll compare different types of resin, clay, and mold-making materials so you can understand what works best for detailed embellishments, jewelry, trays, coasters, mixed media pieces, home décor, and quick workshop projects.
We’ll cover the differences between UV resin, two-part epoxy, fast-cure casting resin, deep-pour resin, resin powder mixes, air-dry clay, polymer clay, and epoxy clay. You’ll learn which materials work best in shallow molds, deep molds, detailed silicone molds, flexible molds, and open bezels, plus which ones are better for painting, sanding, sealing, or adding metallic finishes.
The class will also explain common problem areas: bubbles, cure time, fragile details, sticky resin, mold release issues, too much pigment, and why some materials look beautiful but are not strong enough for thin or delicate pieces. We’ll talk through real examples so you can stop guessing and start choosing the right material on purpose.
By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of which products to reach for, which molds to pair them with, and when to skip resin entirely and use clay instead.
